The Kontron ETXexpress-MC Packs a Powerful Punch in a Small Form Factor
CHICAGO, June 19, 2007 Coinciding with Intels release of the Core® Duo processor and GM965 chipset platform launch, Kontron announces the release of the Kontron ETXexpress-MC a COM Express solution. With this addition to the Kontron ETXexpress family of Computer-On-Modules, the company now offers the widest selection of COM Express modules that are suitable for embedded applications ranging from point of sale/information kiosks and mobile data acquisition systems to medical 3-D image scanners, automation systems, and other multi-display applications..
Built around the Intel® Core 2 Duo processors (4MB L2, 800FSB) and Intel® GM965 chipset, the Kontron ETXexpress-MC is the highest performing COM currently available. The increased frequencies and throughput on CPU, Front-Side-Bus and DRAM allow for a significant increase in system performance compared to exisiting solutions. The Kontron ETXexpress-MC offers the X3100 Graphic Media Accellerator to meet the requirements of embedded applications that require advanced video capabilities. The Kontron ETXexpress-MC supports dual-channel memory up to 4GB via two DDR2 SO-DIMM sockets positioned on the top side of the module. This module follows the COM Express Type 2 pinout and has 5x PCI Express x1 lanes, 3x SerialATA ports, and 8x USB 2.0 ports along with Gigabit Ethernet to round out the list of standard features. The inclusion of onboard TPM 1.2 ensures that the Kontron ETXexpress-MC is a perfect fit for power and thermal sensitive designs.
Kontron began the movement to create COM Express and continues to be full committed to the platform, states Matthias Huber, leader of Kontrons Embedded Modules Division in North America. The Kontron ETXexpress-MC is the first COM Express module to deliver this kind of high-end of computing performance from the Intel® Core 2 Duo processor and the GM965 chipset. Not only does the Kontron ETXexpress-MC meet the requirements of intensive embedded applications, this new module further extends the scalability of COM Express solutions that customers can source with Kontron as a partner who also works with them to build the complete solution.
Key features of the Kontron ETXexpress-MC module include:
Intel® Core 2 Duo (up to 2.2GHz) Processors
Integrated GMA X3100 Graphics w/ 24 Bit LVDS Support
Up to 4GB Dual Channel System Memory (667MHz)
5x PCI Express Lanes, 8x USB 2.0 and 3x Serial-ATA
Wide Input Supply Support - 8.4V-18V
Onboard TPM 1.2
Microsoft Vista Premium capable
Sample units of the Kontron ETXexpress-MC are anticipated to be available by the third quarter of this year with pricing targeted to start at $830 in small quantities.
