Jim Bernards Replaces George Kline on FieldWorks Board

Eden Prairie, Minn., January 27, 1999 - FieldWorks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FWRX) announced today that Jim Bernards replaced George Kline on FieldWorks´ board of directors. Bernards and Kline are partners in Brightstone Capital, Ltd., a venture capital fund manager and an early investor in FieldWorks.

Kline joined FieldWorks´ board in 1993.

Bernards is currently president of Brightstone Capital and president of Facilitation, Inc., a business consulting services company. Bernards was a co-founder and president of the accounting firm Stirtz, Bernards & Co. from May 1981 to June 1993. He currently serves as a director of one public company, FSI International, Inc., and several private companies. Bernards has extensive experience in strategic planning and organizational development of global companies.
