Activation Opts for ´Out of the Box´ Global Solution

Activation IKM, a business area of General Dynamics, is partnering hardware manufacturer ICS Advent for the world wide deployment of the Policy Point servers for its Actipol PBN solution.

Chichester, U.K., June 15, 2001 - Actipol enhances business continuity and productivity by automatically identifying types of traffic and prioritizing delivery to specified users according to predetermined business objectives. As the system is pre-configured to accommodate business critical activity, it allows the policies governing the allocation of network resources to be changed in real time via a notably clear, simple and intuitive GUI.

This gives companies the advantage of what Activation terms ´dynamic business control´, enabling them to respond with exceptional speed to changing business conditions - and crucially, it allows enterprises to build into their networks the capability to deliver unprecedented levels of customer service.

As technical director Dave Hough explained, "Actipol is conceptually quite different from bandwidth management solutions because it´s about managing business activity rather than network response. It operates at the level of the root causes of network conditions - i.e., the business activities themselves - rather than merely alleviating the symptoms. In effect, it provides a network capable of instantaneously reacting in the most appropriate way to any set of circumstances, however complex they may be."

As such, the Actipol paradigm is capable of infinite extension into the realms of genuine knowledge management far beyond anything that exists today - it provides the foundation for building the first true business-aware, proactive, management friendly corporate network.

Actipol chose ICS Advent to provide and deploy their Actipol servers for their ability to deliver fully integrated and packaged products based on customized versions of their popular 1U and 2U servers.

According to Tom Sloan, Vice president EMEA sales, "Realizing that the market requires more than just a product, ICS Advent provides an all-encompassing service. Activation recognize the advantages of a partner that can deliver the level of support that will allow them to concentrate on maximizing the opportunities for Actipol in the marketplace."

ICS Advent incorporates Actipol servers in its Total Integrated Management (TIM) programme for its customers, fully integrated and pre-loaded with Actipol software. The systems are tested and delivered ´site-ready´ for the commissioning engineer to install and configure - Supported by ICS Advent world wide services.
